MWG Magazine – Winter 2022

See all contributions to this issue on our website here.

Definitely what a year we are having. Each day we find out how many people have contracted the virus and how many have died. We are being offered two vaccines and over 80% of Canadians have been vaccinated. Different ones have been around for years. I remember receiving one for smallpox. For me, I have had a lot of reactions to medicines and have allergies against some; so my choice was to not take this. I have already had Covid so maybe I am protected. But it is a choice I have made.

We welcomed many Afghan refugees after the US handed over power to the Taliban last year. My ex-husband wouldn’t have been here if Canada hadn’t done the same after the 1956 Hungarian revolution. My parents both came to Canada from Hungary to fill the need for workers; and Canada give them a chance to have a home. Canada opens its doors to people in need.

We had our three contests – Young Voices, Seniors and Poetry and it was such a success. The winners were published in Peel Weekly News and received their Indigo gift certificates. Our anthology was printed and distributed successfully. In 2019, we had a Young Voices contest and, in 2020, we had one based on the theme, #ApartTogether. The submissions grew. Even our member judges were thanking me for having them read the often impressive submissions.

Our ezine has expanded to include many contributors and so many different topics. We are definitely growing and it shows.

Thank you all for your submissions.
