from the very back of the bus
looking down the centre aisle
the back of heads taller and shorter
raised and lowered hooded and capped
out the window down at a phone
nodding to sleep engaged in a chat
long curly short bob braided poker straight
blonde shades of brown and black
purple tinted peppery streaked grey
probably none natural but who’s to know
out of the corner of my eyes
the world of suburbia gliding by
traffic to one side sidewalk to the other
bus stop slide to a halt then accelearate
stepping on in front stepping off mid way
down Hurontario I can see blue waters
of Lake Ontario through the windshield
