SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ Looking at the sun set on the New Year’s Eve, reflecting on the 2021 that passed by like an Instagram reel, repeating itself month over month with lockdown partially, and yet motivating to look for more, all happened in a span of 12 months. Yes! a year is of 12 months, whether we live inside the house or outside. (Just for laughs!)
SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ It was more than an hour Satya had been sitting in front of the computer to work on her new assignment of writing a happy story. Not even a word could be typed nor a joke could come across her mind to start. She switched off her phone, cleared her desk and got her cup of tea to get her going. Then she saw the sun set. How beautiful it was to watch the sun go down – from bright white to orange to pale yellow to nothing, all in few minutes.
SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ Satya developed Blogic to connect people who shared the same interests, but without any display of pictures and contact numbers – like for a blind date. The two who connected had to meet at Dialogue in the Dark, a restaurant in the city, where patrons dined in the dark, served by the visually impaired who ‘see’ in absence of light.
SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ The auto rickshaw had stopped at the perpendicular end of the road because the driver did not want to go the 15 meters further down since it was a short distance to walk. So, carrying my suitcase without wheels and a bag with fruits and vegetables native to my place, I walked to the house with an iron gate of a common man’s height that opened on the left-hand side. There was no lock. I took the latch handle and hit it hard against the iron. Tung! Immediately, there came a voice asking, “Who is it?” It was the familiar and dear voice everyone in our family waited to hear, the voice of my ammamma.
SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ Satya woke up on Friday, excited about the long weekend although the stay-at-home order was in place and there was nowhere much to visit, except grocery stores and pharmacies.
SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ Satya entered the examination hall. She saw all the students were seated based on their time of entry into the hall and after a little search, she found her place. There was a question paper and answer sheet provided on the table to complete to get certified as a life coach.
SAVITHRI DUDDU ❏ Satya started preparing lunch as it was 11 a.m. and since she had been working the whole week and it being Sunday, she wished to cook quickly and take the entire day off from house chores to watch her Netflix favourite shows. With continuous lockdown and no place to go, it was all she was doing: binge watching.
