Let It Snow!

Let It Snow!

Others cringe but I delight
As the dark winter night
Brings down fluffs of snow
That soon cover the ground below
The temperature falls and I go to bed
With a smile in anticipation of tomorrow
When the white canvas of the field
Is ready for me to wield
My poles as I step on my skis
Strap on the gloves and inhale deep
Before planting one tentative step
At a time along the edge of the field
Marking my trail
For more rounds that follow
Gliding smoother on the compacted snow
Strides become longer
Inhaling, exhaling
Swishing as I push forward on the skis
In the silence of the open field
A lone figure in her own world

Sublime!
