The psyche of the world has changed
Surely, there’s no doubt about this
Even if we get through this pandemic
Without any further loss of lives
Melancholic memories of loved ones
And news of numerous other people
Who succumbed to the deadly virus
Will linger and remain with us forever
Along with foreboding gloominess
Of protracted isolation and lockdown
In addition to images of masked faces
Reminding us for generations to come
Of the fragility of human freedom
And how easily it can be constrained
And the mortal vulnerability of mankind
